LOCK BUMPING – In the News Watch The Video Here The potential danger to consumer and business security called ‘Lock Bumping’ has been growing in awareness through the Internet and various media channels. It is unfortunate that this lock bypass method (a method known by security professionals for some time) has been so widely exposed. We as a reputable security company feel we should now face the problem and educate our customers and consumers about it and how to stop it. Lock bumping is a method of utilizing a special cut key (easily obtained) and rapping it into a standard pin tumbler cylinder (most common house or business locks) which can bypass the pin tumbler security technology and open the lock. This bypass method is virtually undetectable after it is accomplished. Much of what is being shown we feel oversimplifies the process to some degree but with some practice and persistence an authorized (or unauthorized) person can become quite proficient at it. Way to much information has been made available on this we feel and we need to make consumers aware of a lock that can stop it. Although few lock systems can claim no vulnerability to this bypass method the MEDECO brand cylinder technology has features in its design that make bumping virtually impossible. Patented and controlled keyblank designs not available to the general public also stop any bump attempt simply because you cannot obtain a keyblank that would even enter the MEDECO cylinder without valid and proper authorization. We hope that this does not become a wide spread security problem and we fear being labeled alarmists but knowledge and education when it comes to security we feel is paramount. If you want to learn more about the MEDECO security products available or would like us to send you some literature please contact us through this website or for more information go to www.medeco.com.
