1970 - Present
Englewood Lock and Safe was originally founded by Beryl and Dorothy Jeffers in the fall of 1970. It was intended to be a business to give them income yet allow them time to enjoy life in Colorado. Even while they were moving into a location at Old Hampden and Broadway, it became apparent the demand for a quality locksmith in the Englewood area was going to take precedence over their personal lives.
The business outgrew the Hampden location rapidly and was relocated to a new space at 4371 S. Broadway in 1972. There the business flourished and grew for twelve more years. It established a reputation of honesty towards its customers as well as its employees.
In 1975 James (Jim) and Naomi (Sunni) Jeffers joined Englewood Lock & Safe, following Jim's discharge from the United States Navy. The Company was incorporated the next year. In 1980 a second location at 6814 S. Yosemite Street was added to the business to take care of the growing southeast DTC segment of the Denver Metro area.
In 1982 James and Naomi Jeffers purchased the stock owned by Beryl and Dorothy Jeffers, facilitating their long awaited and well deserved retirement.
In 1985 Tom Gallegos was named Vice President of Englewood Lock & Safe. Also, in 1985 the Broadway location was relocated to its newly purchased home at 4310 S. Broadway, where it thrives today.
In 1987, Englewood Lock & Safe acquired "Locksmith Associates" a local competitor and moved it to 3124 S. Parker Road. After many years of stable business this store was closed in 2001 just prior to the Parker Road - I225 interchange construction. The construction preparation caused this location harm as the public avoided the area due to the construction and Englewood Lock felt it was also a good time to consolidate operations.
The Yosemite location, due to the need of a larger store and one with garage and overhead door access was moved in 1988 within the same Southgate shopping Center but just around the corner to 6860 S. Yosemite Street.
James (Jim) and Naomi (Sunni) Jeffers took an early retirement in the fall of 1991 and began enjoying their free time by traveling the country in their fifth wheel trailer. They settled down a year or so later on a 60 acre ranch in Eastern Washington State.
Sheila Gallegos joined the Englewood Lock family in September of 1991 and took over Sunni's (Naomi) position as office manager. In August of 1992 Tom Gallegos was named President of Englewood Lock & Safe. Tom at that time was a twelve year veteran of Englewood Lock & Safe where he is dedicated to provide the quality service that Englewood Lock & Safe, its employees and owners had always been known for. Sheila Gallegos was appointed Secretary in August of 1992.
Tom & Sheila continued to expand services in 1995 beyond mechanical security and developed a separate card access and video surveillance division that continues to this day to be a growing and strong part of Englewood Lock & Safe.
Tom and Sheila purchased Englewood Lock & Safe in January of 1996 and has continued to maintain the integrity that its founders had instilled early on. Over the years Englewood Lock & Safe has contributed greatly to the south Denver Metro area and beyond.
It continues to provide the community with fast, reliable service and quality products. Englewood Lock & Safe is recognized as a leader in the locksmith industry both locally and nationally, and remains enthusiastic in its committment to the Denver Metro and front range areas it serves.

The Locksmith service industry has changed in many ways over the past 10-15 years. Unfortunately, these days it seems more than ever, many locksmith business's are all too ready to compromise basic and good business principals for monetary gain and nothing more.
We certainly agree that its important to be profitable in business but good business and feature selling versus gouging are two entirely different things. In a relatively small industry such as ours, it is under attack more and more by these types. Types that have absolutely no concern for providing good service, and certainly not fair pricing.
We have seen quite an influx of these companies being established here in Denver in the last few years. These companies are no more qualified (both technically and morally) to help the public with their Security than Englewood Lock is to install siding on your house.
(We talk about this on our home page, and we give some basic criteria to use when finding a good locksmith that we urge you to follow.)
In the state of Colorado, our legislators have many times over neglected to protect the communities and business's of Colorado by not passing into law any form of licensing, testing, and or certifications for the Locksmith Industry. By not addressing this, you can only imagine what problems this might cause - keep in mind, this is the industry that has the keys to your homes and business's, (so to speak).
A lack of licensing is to allow the infiltration of both the unqualified and or unscrupulous to enter the security industry without so much as a simple background check. So, as a consumer you must know that Englewood Lock, having come from a long family history of highly reputable, trained Locksmiths and security professionals, has recognized this as a serious problem for the community.
So, "Why Choose Englewood Lock"? For us to ask you for your business, we have to feel we have something different and better to offer you. What we have, is a comfort level that since 1970 we have provided a good service, at a fair price, that is completed by friendly, honest, knowledgeable, clean, uniformed, background verified individuals. Our people are not commissioned to sell you everything they can, but well salaried technicians with full benefits that are happy at what they do.
So, we work very hard to instill in our people and cultivate in our company, a sense of "Always do the right and honest thing no matter what", you know - "Do unto others" and all that. Some say that shouldn't be so important to us. It should be about getting bigger, expanding, selling more and making more money.
Certainly we have to be profitable to survive, and the right kind of growth is good, so we feel by charging fair market pricing, treating you with respect, courtesy and giving you education on the best products versus others helps you to understand your security better. This also allows you to decide what you feel is your own best solution and benefit to a particular problem. So, by opting one way or another it's okay with us - because it's not about wanting to sell you the most expensive items just because it is, rather than simply repairing something that can be fixed with a ten dollar part. If the best, logical, long term fix is to replace an item, then in your best interest thats what we'll do and we'll tell you why.
To do a snow job on you and say something has to be replaced when a repair would be fine is just wrong. Yes, by making a repair (that we can stand behind), we potentially lost a bigger sale on replacing an item but to be deceitful and sell you things you dont really need is wrong.
Yes, we will educate you on better security that might be more expensive (as all feature rich, higher quality products are), because it's our job to make sure you know the "Mercedes" is available, even though the best fit might be the "Toyota", and that's okay, but in the the end, we want you to be happy, and to provide you only what you need and want. This, we feel, gives our customers comfort they are not being deceived, so they come to us over and over again. Isn't that good and fair business? We think so.
So, all we can ask is you give us a chance to show you that we can do what we say, in a professional, clean manner and for the price we tell you we can do it for, and if we fail you, (See "Always do the right thing" above) we ask that you let us know because, we certainly don't claim perfection, but we will make it right.
